About

This page is a child of: Adobe Firefly and Artificial Intelligence

Adobe released its public beta Firefly Video Model (a generative AI tool for video creation) in Feb 2025, allowing users to generate 5-second video clips from text prompts and/or images. No, sadly it's not free. Since video is expensive, you have to pay for this separately from other Adobe services... 15 a month AUD gets you 20 (five-second) clips. So be a bit sparing with it!

Impression

This was better than I expected!

  • What works well:
    • Start frame! Generate what you want as a start frame.
    • UI - What I do like about Adobe's AI - they make it easy to set the text/start and/or end frame... and desired camera movement.
  • What doesn't work well?
    • Vector stuff, don't put or ask for any text of infographic overlays - it messes these up.
  • It doesn't feel as good at 2D as 3D.

Key Features

Firefly’s key features include:

  • Text-to-Video and Image-to-Video Generation: Users can create videos by inputting descriptive text or using reference images.
  • Customizable Settings: Options to adjust camera angles, atmospheric elements, and motion design elements, providing creative control over the generated content.
  • Resolution Support: Initial support for 1080p resolution, with plans to introduce 4K capabilities for professional production work.

A notable advantage of Firefly is its commitment to commercial safety. The model is trained exclusively on licensed content, such as Adobe Stock and public domain materials, ensuring that generated videos are free from copyright issues.
