I've never visited El Salvador... and I think I'll miss my chance in 2023, but I might go another time... here's some videos I looked at though.

El Salvador: The Don'ts of Visiting El Salvador - don't think it's too dangerous to visit, don't go out late at night (catch a taxi home), keep your bags with you, careful with waves, don't drink tap water (bring a water bottle with you), don't forget to bring USD (it's the official currency)... bring 1s etc, tip 10%, don't throw toilet paper in toilet, bring TP with you, don't expect a tourist infrastructure (it can take time to find a tour guide etc), don't in a hurry (have patience, things take time), don't negotiate on the street, don't come in rainy season (May to July), have $12 cash to pay for visa on arrival.
