Flow State Fire Festival
About
Flow State is an annual Flow Arts festival held in the Gold Coast Hinterland, Queensland. It's a 4-day-long event (Fri-Mon) with tonnes of workshops, performances, and jams (glow and fire spinning at night). It's about 200 people, and most of them are very talented flow artists, but some beginners too - everyone excited to camp, make friends, learn new moves, and party! It happens around April each year, and tickets are ~$200-$300 (not bad value at all in my opinion), so check their website for the next date and to see the promo videos!

What's Special About This Event and Venue
Flow State stands out for its inclusive and welcoming atmosphere. They cater to everyone from complete beginners to experienced flow artists. The workshops provide structured learning opportunities, while the jams offer a more relaxed space for practice, collaboration, and free expression. The community is passionate about sharing their skills and knowledge, creating a supportive environment for growth and learning. It's a fantastic way to discover new passions, improve your coordination, and connect with a creative community. In addition to the big annual event, they help host events in parks or community halls, making them accessible and family-friendly... be sure to read about West End Fire Festival, which is every few months in West End, Brisbane.
For the event itself, I've only been to the event once (2042), but I'm sure I'll go in 2025 because I loved it. It is a really lovely area up in the mountains, a great campsite and well set up. And the people are wonderful! Bring a big tent and warmth - it can get cold at night. Most people bring their own food, but they do sell hot foot there, and they had decent enough shower facilities in 2024. Reach out if you're interested in coming!
Sincerely,
Andrew Noske
