Panda

     ... peaceful, rare, zen-like

I am a giant panda,
black and white.
I love sleeping for hours,
especially at night.

I love thinking,
with my two colors of choice,
With monochromatic dreams,
I have deep insight.

I do not roar,
but I am adored.
I prefer the shallow slopes of China,
on the mystical forest floor.

A solitary life,
with bamboo to eat.
Good at climbing upwards,
and an expert at sleep.

Life is simple, pure and zen.
When you live in the bamboo mountains.
Shaggy coat.
Black and white, on a green canvas.

Like an ancient painting.
You must not wish, to have.

About this Poem...

Animal: Panda
Description/motivation: For Jen.... first person to pick a panda. They really are incredible creatures!

This is one in a serious of poems I've written about various animals. The motivation, is that I love the idea of spirit animals, and I decided, one day, to ask many of my friend what animal they think best represents their personality. In some cases the poems are written with the person in mind... and sometimes it's purely about the animal. Read more about my process here. This is an original poem by me!
