Animal poems - Screaming Hairy Armadillo
A lullaby.... for a screaming hairy armadillo
I wanted to write a sweet poem,
For a pretty incredible girl.
But the poem topic she gave me,
Is the least romantic animal in the world.
Oh sure this animal is cute to look at,
And small enough to fit in your pocket.
But it makes a noise that would scare even a ghost,
And exit earth on a rocket.
Imagine waking up,
And just beside you on your pillow.
Is the infamous furry little noise-machine,
The screaming hairy armadillo.
Whenever threatened,
This little hairy ball of armor lets out a scream.
Like a terrified child in the night,
After a very bad dream.
Is it possible to hold this animal,
In such a way it doesn't get terrified.
Where it remains silent and calm,
And just sits on its backside.
If this little sphere of hairy plates,
With its cute little foreign face.
Become my pet and learns to love me,
And smile with armadillo grace.
From burrowing in arid Bolivia,
To a pretty little hand made sanctuary near by bed.
I could dress it in little dancing shorts,
And feed it good cheese and bread.
Good night little hairy armadillo.
You are safe in my hands.
You have no more need to make noise.
Only sweet dreams.
As I cuddle you and put you to bed.

About this Poem... This is one in a serious of poems I've written about various animals. The motivation, is that I love the idea of spirit animals, and I decided, one day, to ask many of my friend what animal they think best represents their personality.
