NOTE: This page is a daughter page of: LibreOffice and Screenplay Format

So LibreOffice is a free word processing program and office suite and here I will link to my screenplay in LibreOffice for you to use as a template. Screenplay Format is on letter size paper (8.5" x 11") and has some very specific rules for font type (Courier New), size (12 point) and indents for each type of line. In particular, I want you to note the required screenplay margins:

  • Left: 1.5"
  • Right: 1.0"
  • Top: 1.0"
  • Bottom: 1.0"

A little strange that there is more space on the left, but that's how it is. For me, I wanted to publish my book to Amazon on Kindle, but also in paperback. So for the paperback version I simply tick the page layout from "Left to Right" to “Mirrored” (as per the screenshot below), so that the text stays a little further from the spine. I'm sure in the industry they still prefer it printed out on regular paper, but I just wanted to try something different and you can see my book here: "Honest Politician". I also uploaded it to kindle, but it botches up the formatting for kindle sadly, so that's not a the greatest option.
