About
The Cube is a personality test which is designed to help you see deeper into your subconscious to gain insight. The cube test was developed by a Japanese psychologist who wanted people to be able to gain quick insight into their lives and personality. Here I just want to remind the different pieces of the game, if you want to read the whole thing you need a fuller article.
The Cube Personality Test
Questions
- Pretext: "Imagine a enormous white room full of light. Can you picture the room..."
- (1) Cube: "In the middle of this room is a cube. Do you see the cube? How big is it? Can you see 3 sides or 2? What colors? What is it made of, and what is the surface like? How do you feel about the cube?"
- (2) Flowers: "There are flowers somewhere in the room, do you see it? Describe the flowers. Where in the room are the flowers? Where type are they? How many? What colors? Are they in a pot? How close to the cube? How do you feel about the flowers?"
- (3) Ladder: "There is a ladder somewhere in the room, do you see it? Describe the ladder. Where in the room? How tall? Does it look hard to climb? How do you feel about your ladder?"
- (4) Storm: "One side of the room is all glass, and there is a storm outside in the distance... do you see the storm? Describe the storm. Is your room quiet or noisy with the storm? How does the storm make you feel?"
- (5) Horse: "Last one, somewhere in the room is a horse... do you see the horse? Describe the horse. What colors? What height? Where is the horse? What is it doing? Describe its eyes. What is the personality of the horse?"
Answers / Interpretation
- (1) Cube = You ... size = ego, 3 sides = creative, surface = rough/smooth personality... make up the rest!
- (2) Flowers = Family and Friends ... number of friends, how colorful, how close to you (the cube).
- (3) Ladder = Aspirations ... how tall = how ambitions, proximity to cube = do you closely identify with it, does it look easy to climb.
- (4) Storm = Troubles ... are you afraid of the storm or peaceful?
- (5) Horse = Idea Lover! ... the fun one... what personality, and where was it in relation to the cube? A very fun way to end the game!
Variations
There are many variations but in the biggest two variations the room is:
- A field - "Imagine a big empty field. How big is this field? What is it filled with? What are the surroundings like?" -> lush = optimistic etc.
- A desert - "Image a big desert... describe the desert" -> interpret your own way.
