15/12 | My
visit to UQ! I just got back from my week long "exploration trip" to Brisbane.
I spent most of the week checking out the universities, but I also had a lot
of fun with old friends and flat-mates of friends. And get this!!! I went
clubbing in "the valley", and at first just stood around talking
with friends, and then decided .... music is pretty good - I'll go and dance.
The very next thing I know I'm dancing with two girls. Now to say they were
the most beautiful girls in the club would be an understatement. These girls
were two of the most stunning girls I've ever seen in my life, and they danced
with me!! Hey - I have witnesses too - I'm not just making this up. Their
names were Peta and Brie - both girls were business students, and both were
lovely. Anyhow, just before they left the club I gave these girls my embarrassing
not-really-a-proper-business-card card, which, in retrospect, was probably
what scared them off. I didn't see them again after that, but I hope one of
them e-mails me. Maybe one of them is single ... .... a man can always dream.
I've got this
huge grin on my face at the moment. It's a shame I didn't get to dance with
Peta (the taller of the two) by herself - dancing with TWO girls can get complicated.
Nevertheless, Dancing with these two wonderful girls was the biggest highlight
of my trip.

| Brisbane adventure Another highlight was when my friend Albert and I in the city markets
and one of the city performers accidentally spilt water on my pants while
showing us a card trick (see photo). I have to say, even thought it rained
six of the seven days I was in Brisbane, I was really impressed by the city
and the people. Brisbane is a really beautiful city. If I have time I'll write
about it in my infamous christmas letter/novel. Might upload a set of photos
too.
1/12 | PhD
decision nigh I've been offered APA scholarships at JCU, UQ and QUT; but I have to
say I'm leaning towards UQ at the moment. I just think it's time to take a
chance and move out of home; JCU was a fantastic place to do my bachelor and
honours, but I don't like the idea of being the ONLY IT PhD student in Cairns.
And, assuming I do that, the worst that can happen is it doesn't work out,
and I could come back home with my tail between my legs and do my PhD in Cairns.
