"What type of flower is it?" "..... Yeah, it's a yellow one"August 2006:

03/09 | I met a girl.

I met a girl!!! Hard to believe I know, but it FINALLY happened ....my first girlfriend! I met Debbie almost a month ago now, and of all places to meet a girl I met her on the dance floor of a club. I went out with Adam (a friend from work) and his flatmates to an auzzie pub/club called the "Brew Hours"! So after years of saying "you don't meet nice girls in clubs" I guess I'll have to eat my own words. :-)

After so many years wanting to find a girl some of my friends might expected me to broadcast it everywhere and start gushing poetry, but you people have me all wrong. Yes, I'm very wordy when I write letters, but some things are just private. All I will tell you is that she's a first year med student (after doing a bachelor of science); she's really smart (another one of those bloody high school dux people!), perceptive, cute, funny (and at the risk of scaring you she has a very similar style of humour to me), and ... well she's just a wonderful girl. But hey; I'm going to stop myself there before I go any further. Debbie discovered my site a week ago, and didn't run away - which is pretty impressive - but I'm going to play it all very safe and slow.

03/09 | Everything happens at once.

Wow ... so much has happened in the past four weeks. I GOT A CAR!!! It's a white ford laser complete with uqdance bumper sticker. After a year and a half of rationalizing that a car would be expensive and public transport in Brisbane I realized that being able to drive anywhere anytime is worth the cost! There is a picture of my car below.

My stepfather thought it was hilarious that I got a girlfriend in the same week I got my car. Some people will tell it shouldn't matter whether you have a car or not to women, but I have serious doubts - it gets you some major points. Not that Debbie cared (I think), but hey; I think just having the car boosts your confidence, because you know you can take a girl places.

03/09 | Sick puppy.

Life isn't all fairy-floss though sadly. As well as the good stuff which happened last month, some crap stuff happened too. I got sick ... and then I stayed sick. I think I've been sick over 3 weeks now - and I'm only just coming good. It started with a cold ... then I caught conjunctivitis (a.k.a. pinkeye) ... which was NOT cool! And finally it was a chest infection that just dragged on and on.

Actually, I caught pinkeye the DAY I got my car. I had insurance, but I decided it would be safer to catch the bus to uni that day. WRONG. I caught conjunctivitis on the bus - I remember touching a bus then wiping my eye - it's REALLY contagious and I have a photo of my eye puffy, red and another one where it's full of muca-anyhow ... it's really sucks.

What sux more though is that: at home, when you're sick your parents take care of you, but in a share house everyone wants to get rid of you because they're afraid of catching it. Geesh - where is the love people?! I shouldn't say that, Nikki and also Alby were really nice when I had pink eye. After my first week coughing though I think they were all pretty fed-up.

And hey; I've worked it out!!! I had thought it was Brisbane winter's that were knocking me about, but that's only half the reason. The other reasons is blood. Since I moved to Brisbane I've been donating blood once every three months (the blood van comes often comes to UQ). Now my blood pressure has always been pretty low - which explain my laid-back personality I guess - but the last time I donated the woman said it was especially low and to look tough I said: "meh - I'll be fine". Two days later I got sick. To confirm my suspicions: my mum got to talking to other mums (as they tend to do), and one of their daughters had the same experiences whereby she had low blood pressure and giving blood every three months was too much, and kept making her sick. So as much as I like to donate I'm going to start putting my own health first. I'm not going to donating for at least a year ..... oh, and I should probably eat more vegetables too, as my housemate Kimberley keeps suggesting.

03/09 | Passive non-aggressive.

Meh, I'm too tired and passive to write this. Maybe another day. This last month has me really run down. I'm going to bed.

My CARRRR!!!
