A beautiful sunrise over the South Pacific March 2007:

  • 06/03 | CRUSIE !

    Hey everyone !!!!

I've been a bit slack in writing this March entry.... which seems odd because I have so much to talk about! The most important thing of course was the cruise I went on! It was AWESOME!!!! It was a seven day cruise from Brisbane to New Caledonia and Vanuatu and back with my housemates Nikki and Jon, and one of my best friends (who now lives in Emerald) Tristan. SOOOO much fun - I would recommend it as something EVERYONE should do AT LEAST ONCE before they die. It wasn't too expensive, the food was awesome and ...... more than anything, it was a great way to meet new people and challenge yourself to party EVERY night of the week. I met lots of new people but my favourite peoples were four girls from QUT in Brisbane. Emma, Kat, Aimee and Clare - were heaps of fun to hang out with and Clare was one of the best dancers I've ever seen, so of COURSE I had to dance with her!! And of course I've tried persuading them all to visit uqdance - muhaahaa!

The girls! From left: Aimee, Kat, Clare and Emma.We went to three islands on our trip. The first was Noumea - which looked quite a bit like Cairns really, except that everyone spoke French. Next was Lifou, which is a relatively small tropical island there was terrific snorkeling just off the island. Finally was Vanuatu, where we booked a 8 hour "cultural tour" where a guy took us half-way around the island in a comby van and we visited a couple of villages. Our guide was really good - he put up with all my questions - and the tour also included a short trip in a dug-out canoe. Cruises are AWESOME!!! Anyhow, I won't rant too much.... I've put some photos below and if you are REALLY interested there are some more here.... but these I will probably remove eventually because they are taking up too much space. :-)

Anyhow, it's back to reality now... and "reality" is pretty good, so I can't really complain. Yesterday Debbie took me to a cocktail party where I got to wear my new suit, which she helped me buy, again (there were two formal nights on the boat). Next Friday is a med keg for St Patrick's day which I hope to take some housemates too... and next Sunday is my birthday. I don't have any plans for my birthday... I'm pretty much partied out after the boat trip and I just want to lie down!

Hope you are all doing great.

A "traditional" gold-coin-donation-to-visit hut at lifou _ I think they like me! ... This is what heppens in Vanuatu when you tell a warrior tribe that their cheif is fat. _ Us at lifou (where you can snorkel !) _ Tristan is practically on of the locals. _
