Idiot February 2006:

  • 05/01 | UPDATE: FINALLY finished my "making a website" page. Yay! (student > lessons)
NOTE: This page should be useful for anyone considering getting themselves a personal or company website, but are not sure what steps are involved. Next I might make a kick-arse video lesson on writing Macros ... but that might be another year away! Oh well ... I have plenty of time before I'm qualified to be a lecturer right? :-P

  • 03/02 | Dance People
Over the last couple of weeks I've already had fun getting back into dancing! Nadim has a car, and he and Celeste have taken me to a couple of really cool nights eating and dancing, and meeting some of Nadim's friends. Hang on, I'm not sure I've even told you people about Nadim! Nadim is the nicest guy ever! He oozes niceness - you could be standing a kilometer away and you still wouldn't be safe - and Celeste is just as lovely. Both of them joined uqdance last semester, and I'm glad they got together - they make such an attractive couple!
Now that I think about it, Celeste has a lot in common with Michelle - both of them are very stunning girls, both are pure at heart, both are innocent, and of course they're both as gullible as strawberry trees! It's hilarious. Hours of entertainment. :-)

On Friday Nadim and Celeste came to pick me up Celeste was at my front door in a wonderful new red dress, and so I told her "wow, you are looking very pretty this afternoon" but her reply caught me completely off-guard.
"Aw thank you Andrew! Yeah; Nadim is looking for a root"

Surely I misheard, but I looked across at Nadim, and sure enough he was examining a map on top of his car. I looked back at Celeste and burst out laughing!
Ahh Celeste. You crack me up girl. Celeste gave me the confused look - the old, innocent "did I say something funny" stare (almost the same standard as Michelle) - for a good three seconds before she finally realized what she had just said and said "Noo Andrew ... that's not what I meant!". And then of course she went the same colour as her dress when I told Nadim what his "intelligent" girlfriend had she just said. Only a girl like Celeste would say something like "looking for a route" without batting an eyelid. When she told me she went to a public school I barely believed her - I would have assumed she was from an all-girl Christian school). But serious ... how could anyone from a public school still be that innocent!

Michelle and Celeste make unintentional sexual innuendos and spoonerisms ALL the time, but this one was a classic. From now on I'm going to try and remember more of the little funny little things our lovely uqdance girls say; because you definitely don't want to lose a gem like this one.

Oh anyhow, continuing the story; Nadim, Celeste and I met a group of other uqdancers and watched the Chinese mask dance at Chinatown for Chinese new year. It was amazing! The dragons and the Tae Kwon Do demonstration were pretty good, but not much compared to the mask dancer - in the twitch of an eye this girl's mask changed. Oh; and hey; she was pretty hot too! Apparently mask dancing is a tradition passed down from father to son, and, if I heard the announcer correctly, she is the only female mask dancer in the world! Hrmmmm .... wonder if she's single.
After that we went dancing at Denims, and, as always, Denims was lots of fun, although at this time of year you build up a sweat after just one song.

It's great to hang out with uqdance people. I was explaining to some other people, my group of dance friends are possibly the nicest people on earth; it's almost surreal, but there is not a single mean bone among any of them. I imagine that being in uqdance is what it's like being in a Christian group where everyone is an goody-goody .... except without all the religion bits - instead we just dance. And the other great thing is not only do we all get along really well, but were all on hugging terms. Well not so much the guys hugging other guys, but hey; I know I'm never going to comfortable hugging girls like my brunette housemates last year - they all scared the be-jesus out of me - so it's nice to know a group of nice girls who I can be friends with. It's hard to explain, but some of my housemates are not great for my self-esteem, but uqdance people; they're always been great. Oh, and dancing with girls is always good for the self esteem - beats dancing by yourself anytime!

Nadim and Celeste are quickly turning into my favourite people. This year Nadim is president of uqdance, and I'm treasurer. Market day is about two weeks away and we're going to host a stall, and do a performance, and it should be great! I really look forward for semester to start, hopefully there will be lots of nice new guys and girls joining us. In fact, this may change, but I'm also feeling confident about meeting a girl this year ... .... well it would be about bloody time! Fortunately dancing seems to attract nice girls ..... and hopefully Nadim will be able to help me too! :-)
Getting the courage to ask a girl out is not as easy as I imagine in my mind, but this year I'm starting again and I have hope.

This year I have vowed not to repeat the same mistakes as last year - such as waiting for a girl to just reply for more than half a year. Oh well ... at least I improved on waiting five years without even telling the girl I like her. You have to laugh about these things .... it sure beats crying.

  • 05/02 | New Housemate
The latest big news around here is we have a new housemate. Her name is Kimberley and she's a PhD student! Hooray - I won't be the only one anymore. She's also a vegetarian - not another bloody vego - but hey - Krista was a vegetarian and she turned out okay. Kimberley seems like a really nice girl actually, and her boyfriend seems really cool too, although she studies plants and I get the impression they have a lots of hippy friends. Dang hippys.

I was initially a bit worried, because she's brunette, but unlike the other brunettes who have lived in this house she actually seems to have a laid-back disposition (a bit like Krista!) and therefore isn't likely to boss me around and tell me I'm a dag. I got her a small very cheap little moving in present, but my housemates said a moving in present is a silly idea. Oh well ... I though it was a nice gesture - acquiring a new housemate is a pretty important thing, so I hope she likes us all.
