Mmmmmmmmmmmmm tastes like asian people.March 2008:

  • 10/03 | UPDATE: Changed look of home page and added new personal section to wiki site! (wiki > personal section)

  • 10/03 | Birthday soon!

It's crazy how many people are born in March. I'm on the 18th, my girlfriend is on the 12th and two of the guys I work with - Peter and Adam - have birthdays within the same fortnight. Actually for Peter's birthday he had a BBQ at Gyatt Park, which was really nice - mabye I'll have to copy the idea one year, but I usually just like having a quiet birthday. It's funny I'll organize big events for clubs, but then decide it's too much hard work to organize any kind of barbeque, dinner and/or party for myself.... or maybe it's that I'm worried that no-one will show up and I'll be sitting at a bowling ally by myself waving a little flag which says "birthday boy" and crying - tears flowing down the gutter with the thousands of pieces of my shattered heart. :-P

Since Debbe's birthday is so close we decided to celebrate with just one big dinner - rather than two medium sized dinners. She's always wanted to try Teppanyaki, so I took her to a place called Kabuki which is in the city near the botanic gardens. It was awesome! I've never been to Teppanyaki before, and it was fantastic to have our own interactive chef - even though we had to share him with what was obviously a pretty damn wealthy family on account of they'd been to many Teppanyaki's before (in other cities) but "not this one". I think this is the only real Teppanyaki place in Brisbane and so it was expensive but I figure it's okay - it's something regular people only do once or maybe twice in a lifetime, and I'll be taking Debbie to MacDonalds for the rest of the year before I'll consider something classier (i.e. a restaurant - or anything for that matter) again. I felt a bit disappointed we got the only caucasian chef in the restaurant, but he was very good throwing his knives, and flicking food at people. They even made us catch eggs in a cup, and so there was a lot of pressure to actually catch everything that was thrown at me - if Debbie beat me I would never hear the end of it.

I have information about Kabuki and other restaurants around Brisbane at: wiki - brisbane restaurants

Anyhow, that's all I should report for now. It's been a good month work wise - I have made my own plugins which quite a few people - both in my group and other countries - are using now and I have lots of good feedback. So next time you need to recontrust and segment a tilt series using electron microscope tomography give me a call. Have a good easter everyone!

Crazy but loveable girfriend. :-)Ignore the last name. :-)
